How we built this list. We pulled every facility in AHCA's assisted living directory for Palm Beach County, opened each state profile, and kept those with the status "Licensed" or "In review." Facilities shown as "In review" carry a License renewal in review label: that is the state's listed status on October 30, 2026, usually a renewal being processed, and the badge links to the AHCA profile. Mailing cities don't follow city limits. Statuses change, so confirm on FloridaHealthFinder; your advisor will too.

Survey responses were collected July–November 2025. A median is a midpoint, not a quote: half of the providers surveyed charged more and half charged less.

What moves the price: the level of care (many communities add fees as help with bathing, dressing, or medication grows), apartment size, one-time move-in fees, and what's bundled. See assisted living costs in South Florida and ways families pay.

What to look for when you tour

  • Check the license first. Confirm the current status and any specialty licenses on FloridaHealthFinder, and read the latest inspection reports. If a renewal is in review, ask the administrator about it.
  • Ask about hurricane plans. Where does power come from in an outage, what does the generator run, and where do residents go in an evacuation?
  • Ask who's on duty overnight. Nurse availability ranges from 24-hour staff to part-time or none. Of the 10 state-listed facilities in Royal Palm Beach, 2 report 24-hour nurse availability.
  • Listen for Mom's language. Ask which caregivers speak it on each shift, not just whether someone on staff does.
  • Plan for what's next. Ask what happens if Mom's needs grow. Does the community hold ECC or LNS licenses, or would she need to move?

Florida assisted living rules, in brief

In Florida, assisted living facilities (ALFs) are licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Besides the standard license, a facility can hold specialty licenses that allow more care [4]:

  • Extended congregate care (ECC): more nursing and support services, so residents can stay as their needs grow.
  • Limited nursing services (LNS): certain nursing tasks provided by licensed nurses.
  • Limited mental health (LMH): for residents who live with a mental health condition.

Hurricane season and backup power. Florida requires every assisted living facility to have an alternate power source and enough fuel to keep indoor temperatures at or below 81°F for at least 96 hours after losing power. Facilities with 16 or fewer beds must keep 48 hours of fuel on site, and larger ones 72 hours [5]. Ask to see the generator, what it powers, and the evacuation plan.

Florida also created a separate memory care services license in 2026; AHCA must adopt its rules by June 1, 2027 [6]. Residents have rights under Florida law, including at least 45 days' notice before a facility can relocate or discharge them in most cases [7]. Know Mom's rights.

How many assisted living facilities are in Royal Palm Beach?

On October 30, 2026, Florida's AHCA listed 10 assisted living facilities with a Royal Palm Beach mailing address and the status "Licensed" or "In review," with 275 licensed beds. 1 of them showed "In review", usually a license renewal being processed; they're labeled. 2 have 25 or more beds; 8 are smaller homes. Mailing addresses don't always match city limits.

How much does assisted living cost in Royal Palm Beach?

CareScout's 2025 survey puts the monthly median for assisted living at $5,617 in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach area, compared with $5,610 for Florida and $6,200 nationally. CareScout doesn't publish a figure for Royal Palm Beach alone. Your advisor can tell you what specific communities charge, including care-level fees.

Do any assisted living facilities near Royal Palm Beach offer memory care?

Of the 10 facilities listed on this page, 5 report a memory care program on their state profile. That's a facility-reported field, not a license. Florida's new memory care license takes effect after AHCA adopts rules, due by June 1, 2027. See our memory care guide.

What does "License renewal in review" mean?

It means the facility's FloridaHealthFinder profile showed the status "In review" on October 30, 2026, the day we pulled the data. For facilities in our area, that usually reflects a license renewal being processed. It isn't a rating. Select the badge to open the AHCA profile and see the current status.

How do I check whether an assisted living facility is licensed?

Search the facility by name on FloridaHealthFinder (quality.healthfinder.fl.gov). The profile shows license status, expiration date, licensed beds, specialty licenses, and inspection history. Your advisor checks license status before recommending any community. Step-by-step guide.

Can I tour Royal Palm Beach communities if I live out of state?

Yes. Your advisor can walk a community with you on a live video call, asking your questions on the spot, so you can narrow the list before you fly in. Many families save the in-person trip for the final choice or for move-in day. How video tours work.

What does a local advisor cost?

Nothing. A Move for Mom's help is at no cost to your family. Here's how we're paid.
