About us

Editorial standards

How we choose sources, what we will and won't publish, and how we fix mistakes.

What we publish

Plain-English guides for families, and city and county pages built from public data. Every fact that isn't common knowledge links to its source.

Our sources

  • Facilities: Florida Agency for Health Care Administration's FloridaHealthFinder directory and individual facility profiles. We list facilities whose state profile shows the status "Licensed" or "In review" on the date shown, and label "In review" facilities "License renewal in review." We leave out provisional, in-litigation, and other statuses, and only fields the state publishes: name, address, licensed beds, specialty licenses, and facility-reported programs. Data retrieved October 30, 2026.
  • Costs: CareScout (a Genworth company) 2025 Cost of Care Survey, Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach area, Florida, and national medians.
  • Population: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates (Table B01001); Census Gazetteer files for distances.
  • Law and regulation: the Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code, linked to official sources.
  • Health information: federal agencies such as the CDC and the National Institute on Aging.

What we don't do

  • No paid placements, sponsored rankings, or "best of" lists.
  • No invented reviews, testimonials, or ratings.
  • No statistics without a source.
  • We don't publish lists we can't source. That's why our independent living pages don't list communities: Florida doesn't license independent living.

Review and updates

Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. We plan to refresh facility data at least monthly (TBD) and cost data each year when CareScout publishes. Medical and legal topics will be reviewed by a qualified professional. Reviewer: placeholder
